THERAPEUTIC EFFICIENCY OF THE «DEVIMECTIN 1%» AND «KUBAZOL» APPLICATION IN THE PSOROPTIC SCAB OF RABBITS
Abstract
The experimental results of one safety aspects of the use of the new anti-parasitic preparation «Devimectin 1%», which are prescribed for injection into fur animals, rabbits, dogs and cats, are presented. The composition of the drug includes ivermectin. In parallel, for the treatment of psoroptic scab of rabbits skin complications, local application of the drug «Kubazol» on the basis of birch bark oil is tested. The drug is indicated for bovine cattle, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, dogs, rabbits and fowls. Clinical efficacy of psoroptic scab complicated forms treatment has been performed in rabbits, with the use of the preparation «Amitrasіne plus» for the control group of animals and «Devimectin 1%» with «Kubazol» - for the experimental group. The clinical pattern of acarinosis in rabbits was as follows: animals often rubbed their ears, shook their heads. On the internal surface of the ear auricle, there were focuses of inflammation - vesicles of red colour, or follicles, which burst on the fifth day, with the outflow of a yellowish liquid that turned into a crust after drying. The external auditory meatus was filled with yellow lumps of ear wax. In some of the animals, the lesions
confluent, the inflammation spread to most of the inner surface of the ear. In the external auditory meatus, a large amount of secretion was accumulated, and there were abundant serous discharges or purulent secretions. Cerumen plugs completely closed the auditory meatus. In the parasitological examination of rabbits, a Psoroptes cuniculi pathogen was found, with an extensive infection rate of 95,0%.
It was established that the therapeutic effect of local treatments with the preparation «Amitrasіne plus» was manifested by the rapid decrease of the skin area affected by the Psoroptes cuniculi, the disappearance on the 5th day from the beginning of the treatment the phenomena of exudation and pain reaction, the absence of live Psoroptes cuniculi in skin scrapings on the 7th day of observation. However, hyperemia and edema were refractory to therapeutic procedures until the end of the trial, and indicated a slowdown in the disappearance of inflammation and the presence of moderate irritant effects of the preparation. The complex application of «Devimectin 1%» and «Kubazol» has shown higher therapeutic efficacy in experimental studies. Declining of lesions area rate in the use of these preparations outstripped such in a group of animals treated with «Amitrasіne plus». Exudation, hyperemia, edema completely disappeared on the 7th day after the start of treatment. «Devimectin 1%» and «Kubazol», acting together on different etiological factors of the inflammatory process, in the experiment demonstrated significantly better therapeutic properties. Thus, in 15,22% of patients treated with «Amitrasіne plus», residual effects of contact dermatitis were observed. In rabbits affected by psoroptic scab, which were treated in a comprehensive regimen using «Devimectin 1%» and «Kubazol», in any case, no manifestations of contact dermatitis were observed.
Subsequent studies will be the next stage of pre-registration clinical trials aimed at studying the effect of the preparation «Devimectin 1%» on nematodosis of rabbits including caused by Passalurus ambiguus, and «Kubazol» on trichophytosis of rabbits.
